CVE-2022-39266Network attack vector

Arbitrary code execution via cached data

Published Sep 29, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Improper input validation in isolated-vm 4.3.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code in the Node.js process via crafted V8 cached data. The CachedDataOptions API accepts untrusted V8 cachedData without preserving the isolate sandbox boundary, allowing supplied payloads to escape into the host process. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-controlled cachedData to this API; successful exploitation compromises confidentiality, integrity, and availability of that Node.js process.
