CVE-2022-39230Network attack vector

Authenticated information disclosure via overbroad search authorization

Published Sep 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Information disclosure in FHIR Works on AWS SMART Authorization 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to exceed OAuth scopes. The search-request authorization path returns information beyond the requesting client's OAuth scope; the vendor has not disclosed the exact faulty code operation. A valid API client and search-type request are required, and access remains limited to individuals the client was already authorized to access.
