CVE-2022-39225Network attack vector

Foreign session modification via unconstrained object lookup

Published Sep 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Authorization failure in Parse Server before 4.10.15 and 5.0.0 through 5.2.5 allows remote authenticated users to alter foreign sessions. RestWrite.handleSession accepted an object-ID query for any _Session and allowed the requester to overwrite its user pointer and custom fields without constraining the query to the authenticated user. Exploitation requires a valid account and another session's object ID; it exposes custom session data after reassignment but does not disclose the session token or ordinarily change privileges.
