CVE-2022-39216Network attack vector

Account takeover via predictable password-reset tokens

Published Mar 14, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025

Password-reset token weakness in Combodo iTop before 2.7.8 and from 3.0.0 to before 3.0.2-1 allows remote attackers to take over accounts. ForgotPwdGo in application/loginwebpage.class.inc.php hashes APPROOT with uniqid() and truncates the digest instead of using random bytes. The unauthenticated reset flow stores that token for the targeted user, and obtaining it permits a password change without the previous password.
