Room takeover via channel-name parsing confusion

Privilege assignment in Matrix.org matrix-appservice-irc before 0.35.0 allows remote authenticated users to take over bridged rooms. The node-irc channel parser joins an attacker-controlled channel name with an existing channel name when it receives a crafted character sequence, causing permissions to target the wrong channel. Dynamic channel joining must be enabled, and successful exploitation lets the attacker grant their account permissions in the existing channel.
