Code execution via X_T parser buffer overwrite
Published Sep 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Siemens Parasolid and Simcenter Femap allows attackers to execute code when a crafted X_T file is opened. The X_T parser writes past the end of an allocated buffer while processing malformed file data. Exploitation requires a user to open the file, after which code runs with the permissions of the current process.
