System takeover via unvalidated registry modification
Published Jan 31, 2023 · Updated Mar 27, 2025
Improper input validation in CHANGING Information Technology MegaServiSignAdapter 1.0.17.0823 allows remote attackers to modify the Windows registry. The network-facing component accepts input without sufficient validation and applies it to HKEY_CURRENT_USER values such as AutoRun, although TWCERT does not identify the specific interface or function. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the resulting registry write can launch malicious scripts for system takeover or terminate the service.
