Stored XSS via spoofed analytics page titles
Published Jan 16, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
Stored XSS in MonsterInsights before 8.9.1 allows remote attackers to inject scripts into Top Posts/Pages via spoofed Google Analytics data. The Top Posts/Pages report stores Google Analytics dt page-title values and renders them without sanitization or output escaping. Exploitation requires forged analytics requests to push a crafted title into the site's top-ten results; the script executes when an administrator opens the report.
