CVE-2022-39016Network attack vector

Account takeover via JavaScript-bearing PDF upload

Published Oct 31, 2022 · Updated May 6, 2025

JavaScript injection in PDFTron in M-Files Hubshare before 3.3.10.9 allows remote authenticated users to take over accounts. PDFTron renders executable JavaScript embedded in an uploaded PDF rather than neutralizing it, allowing the script to run when another user opens the document. An attacker needs a Hubshare account, and a victim must open the crafted PDF; resulting script execution can compromise the victim's account.
