Sensitive-data modification via HwAirlink heap overflow
Published Oct 14, 2022 · Updated May 15, 2025
Heap overflow in Huawei HarmonyOS 2.0 and 2.1 allows remote attackers to modify sensitive data through the HwAirlink module. HwAirlink writes beyond a heap buffer while handling network input, but Huawei has not disclosed the responsible function, field, or missing bounds check. No authentication or user interaction is required; the documented consequence is limited to out-of-bounds writes that alter sensitive data.
