Admin HTML injection via custom menu
Published Nov 15, 2022 · Updated Apr 29, 2025
Cross-site scripting in BlueSpiceCustomMenu in BlueSpice 4 before 4.2.1 allows authenticated administrators to inject arbitrary HTML. The extension stores administrator-controlled menu markup and renders it in custom navigation without sufficient output neutralization, enabling script-capable content to execute in viewers' browser sessions. The attack requires an authenticated account with administrative permissions and user interaction with the affected navigation; impact is limited to browser-side confidentiality and integrity effects described by the published record.
