Process crash via unchecked scale-filter denominator
Published Sep 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Divide-by-zero in MEncoder SVN-r38374-13.0.1 allows attackers to crash the process by supplying a crafted media file. The config() routine in libmpcodecs/vf_scale.c performs a division while configuring the scale filter without rejecting a zero denominator from malformed media. A user must open the crafted file; successful exploitation interrupts only the current command-line process.
