Command execution via unneutralized CSV formulas
Published Sep 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
CSV injection in EspoCRM 7.1.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands when an administrator opens exported contacts. The contact creation path stores formula-prefixed field values without neutralizing them before the contacts exporter writes them into CSV cells. Exploitation requires an authenticated user to create the malicious contact and an administrator to export and open the CSV in spreadsheet software that executes the formula, placing command execution on the administrator's workstation rather than the EspoCRM server.
