Victim-session JavaScript execution via dashboard link
Published Sep 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Weave GitOps Enterprise before 0.9.0-rc.5 allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript in a victim's session. The GitopsCluster dashboard renders an annotation-controlled dashboard URL as a clickable javascript: link without restricting its URI scheme. An attacker must be able to add an annotation to a GitopsCluster custom resource and persuade a victim to click the link, after which the payload runs with the victim's permissions.
