Administrator code execution via permissive installer folders
Published Sep 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Local privilege escalation in Trend Micro HouseCall 1.62.1.1133 and earlier allows local users to execute code as an administrator. The installer assigns overly permissive access rights to product folders, allowing low-privileged code to modify content used with elevated rights. Exploitation requires prior ability to run low-privileged code on the Windows host and grants administrator-context code execution.
