Authenticated password modification via PasswordID tampering
Published Dec 19, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Authorization bypass in Click Studios Passwordstate before build 9611 allows remote authenticated users to alter password records through the API. The /api/browserextension/UpdatePassword/ endpoint accepts a user-controlled PasswordID without enforcing ownership, so changing that identifier targets another record. Access requires a valid authenticated session, and the demonstrated consequence is unauthorized password-data modification rather than service disruption.
