CVE-2022-38691

Local privilege escalation via untrusted RSA key

Published Sep 1, 2025 · Updated Sep 1, 2025

Certificate validation in Unisoc BootROM on SC9863A, T310, T610, and T618 allows local users to gain BootROM privileges. The Certificate Type 0 branch hashes the supplied RSA public key but never compares that hash with the eFuse-anchored root-key hash, so an attacker-controlled key reaches signature processing. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access or brief physical access and enables persistent compromise of the secure boot chain.
