Local privilege escalation via missing permission check
Published Oct 14, 2022 · Updated May 15, 2025
Missing authorization in Unisoc soundrecorder service on Android 10, 11, and 12 allows local users to gain elevated contacts access. The service omits a required permission check, allowing an unprivileged local application to invoke functionality that should be restricted and thereby elevate privileges in the contacts service. Exploitation requires local access to an affected Unisoc chipset device; the published impact is privilege elevation with no additional execution privileges needed.
