CVE-2022-38668Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stack-data disclosure via full-buffer static-file writes

Published Aug 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Information disclosure in Crow through 1.0+4 allows remote attackers to read uninitialized stack data via small static files. Connection::do_write_static passes its entire 16,384-byte local buffer to asio::buffer without limiting the write to the bytes actually read. The server must expose a configured static path containing a file smaller than 16 KB; requesting that file returns its contents followed by residual stack memory.
