IED restart via insufficient update signature verification

Improper signature verification in Hitachi Energy Relion 670/650/SAM600-IO firmware allows remote authenticated users to restart an IED. The firmware update path inadequately validates a tampered package, and processing that malicious package forces the device to restart. Exploitation requires FSTAccess mode, security-level credentials, and initiation of an update; the interruption is temporary and normal operation returns after restart.
