Code execution via unrestricted template file overwrite
Published Sep 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Remote code execution in Doufox 0.0.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code through the administrative template editor. TemplateController.php editAction constructs a theme file path from URL parameters and passes posted file_content directly to file_put_contents without enforcing the interface's PHP-file restriction. The published proof of concept overwrites config.php through the admin route and includes a session cookie, leaving the exact authentication gate unresolved while demonstrating server-side code execution.
