CVE-2022-38604Public exploit

Arbitrary file deletion via untrusted reparse points

Published Apr 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 11, 2025

Link following in Wacom Driver 6.3.46-1 and earlier for Windows allows local users to delete arbitrary files during uninstall. The SYSTEM-level Remove.exe uninstaller deletes Tablet.dat from a user-controlled WTablet path without rejecting NTFS mount-point and symbolic-link redirection. Exploitation requires a low-privileged user to prepare both links and an administrator to uninstall the driver; the primitive can remove protected files and enable privilege escalation or an unbootable system.
