User-to-Administrator escalation via writable USR_ROLE
Published Sep 19, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Improper permissions in ProcessMaker before 3.5.4 allow remote authenticated users to elevate an account to Administrator through its profile page. The profile update handler accepts an attacker-supplied USR_ROLE value and applies PROCESSMAKER_ADMIN without enforcing the caller's existing role. A normal account is required, and successful exploitation grants administrative control over the application.
