Authenticated remote code execution via nested shell quoting
Published Sep 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Command injection in Archery 1.8.3 through 1.8.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands through my2sql time parameters. My2SQL.generate_args2cmd nests shlex.quote output inside literal single quotes, allowing an extra quote in start-datetime or stop-datetime to break shell quoting. Access requires the sql.menu_my2sql permission, and injected commands run with the privileges of the Archery service process.
