CVE-2022-3854Network attack vector

RGW crash via null URL processing

Published Mar 6, 2023 · Updated Mar 6, 2025

Denial of service in Red Hat Ceph Storage 3 through 5 allows attackers to crash the RGW by supplying a crafted null URL. The RGW backend URL-processing path accepts the null URL instead of rejecting it, then reaches an undisclosed operation that terminates the gateway. The request must reach an RGW backend and requires user interaction; the documented impact is an RGW crash without data disclosure or modification.
