DBA-level command execution via unfiltered archiver condition
Published Sep 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Command injection in Archery 1.7.5 through 1.8.5 allows remote authenticated users with the DBA role to execute system commands. The archive_apply path passes the unfiltered where parameter to the pt_archiver plugin, where faulty shlex.quote use permits quote bypass and shell-command injection. Exploitation requires a DBA-role user to create and run a malicious archive workflow, granting command execution in the server process context.
