Remote command execution via quote bypass
Published Sep 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Command injection in hhyo Archery 1.4.5 through 1.8.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands through binlog2sql. Binlog2Sql.generate_args2cmd embeds shlex.quote output inside additional single quotes, allowing crafted quote characters to escape the intended argument and alter the shell command. Access requires an authenticated account with the sql.menu_binlog2sql permission; successful exploitation runs commands with the Archery service's privileges.
