Authenticated command execution via diagnostic IP input
Published Sep 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in TOTOLINK A720R firmware 4.1.5cu.374 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through a diagnostic request. The setDiagnosisCfg handler passes the JSON ip value into a shell command without neutralizing shell metacharacters, so a crafted value such as $(CMD) is evaluated by the firmware shell. Administrator access to the web interface is required; successful exploitation runs arbitrary commands on the router with the handler's privileges.
