Command execution via unvalidated CGI query string
Published Aug 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
OS command injection in TOTOLINK A810R firmware 5.9c.4050_B20190424 allows attackers to execute commands through downloadFile.cgi. The CGI passes the request's unvalidated QUERY_STRING to system(), allowing shell metacharacters in the payload to alter the executed command. Access to the router's management HTTP interface is required, and injected commands run with the CGI process's privileges.
