CVE-2022-38472Network attack vector

Data theft via XSLT address-bar spoofing

Published Dec 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025

Origin spoofing in Firefox, Firefox ESR, and Thunderbird allows remote attackers to solicit data under a false address-bar origin. The XSLT error handler creates an error document in the wrong security context, associating attacker-controlled content with an unrelated origin shown in the address bar. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted content and submit data in the spoofed page; Thunderbird mail reading disables the necessary scripting.
