Stored XSS via forged settings update
Published Nov 28, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Showing URL in QR Code 0.0.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject JavaScript through a forged settings request. The settings handler accepts bg_color without a CSRF check or sanitization, stores it, and later renders it without escaping. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator or editor to open an attacker-controlled page; the injected script then runs in visitors' browsers.
