Cross-site scripting via unescaped terminal username
Published Nov 2, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Webmin 2.001 allows remote authenticated users to inject browser-executed code through xterm/index.cgi. When an invalid user value reaches the error path, index.cgi inserts it into the index_euser message without HTML escaping. Exploitation requires Webmin access and a victim to render the crafted response, enabling page-content modification in that victim's session.
