Stored XSS via unescaped plugin settings
Published Dec 5, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Stored XSS in WPUpper Share Buttons 3.42 and earlier allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to inject scripts. The plugin settings form stores option values without sanitization and renders them into input fields without output escaping, allowing an injected event-handler attribute to execute when the page is revisited. Exploitation requires access to the plugin settings and subsequent pointer interaction; scripts execute even when unfiltered_html is disabled, including in multisite installations.
