CVE-2022-38362Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via example DAG shell interpolation

Published Aug 16, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Command injection in Apache Airflow Docker Provider before 3.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute code on worker hosts. The shipped docker_sample_copy_data DAG inserts templated source paths and a prior task's filename output into commands executed through BashOperator and /bin/bash -c without shell-safe quoting. Exploitation requires the example DAG to be loaded and an authenticated user to influence its inputs; successful commands run with the worker's privileges.
