Administrator stored XSS via unescaped settings
Published Dec 26, 2022 · Updated Apr 11, 2025
Stored XSS in Kwayy HTML Sitemap before 4.0 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to inject scripts. The settings handler stores Exclude post and Custom Post Name values without sanitization and renders them back into the settings page without attribute or HTML escaping. Administrator privileges and a configuration that denies unfiltered_html, such as WordPress multisite, are required; opening the poisoned settings page executes the script in a viewer’s browser.
