Unauthorized access via overwritten username
Published Sep 19, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper input validation in Safe Software FME Server 2021.2.5 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to gain unwanted access. The new-user endpoint trusts a POSTed username after only client-side validation, so invalid characters can cause that username to be overwritten. Permission to create users is required, and the overwritten identity can grant access to an unwanted account.
