Browser script execution via audit log rendering
Published Sep 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Nagios XI before 5.8.7 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser through auditlog.php. The auditlog.php admin page fails to neutralize untrusted content before placing it in generated HTML; public records do not identify the affected parameters. Successful exploitation requires a user to load the affected page, allowing script execution in that user's browser context but no reported server-side code execution or service interruption.
