Denial of service via URL parsing
Published Nov 9, 2022 · Updated May 1, 2025
Uncontrolled resource consumption in affected GitLab CE/EE releases allows remote attackers to degrade performance or interrupt the instance. GitLab identifies URL parsing as the locus but has not published the parser, function, or precise operation responsible for unbounded resource use. No authentication or user interaction is required; affected versions are before 15.3.5, 15.4.0 through 15.4.3, and 15.5.0 through 15.5.1.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
Public exploit references
No public exploit references are available in this record.
Labels summarize the accepted research assessment. They do not indicate a test against your environment.
