Local privilege escalation via writable service executable
Published Sep 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Local privilege escalation in YSoft SAFEQ 6 before 6.0.72 allows local users to gain administrative privileges on Windows systems. The Client V3 installer grants Authenticated Users write and modify access to product files, allowing a service executable to be overwritten through an alternative data stream. A low-privileged Windows account can then run attacker-controlled code with the service's elevated privileges.
