Code execution via JBIG2 integer overflow
Published Aug 22, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Integer overflow in Xpdf before 4.04 allows attackers to execute code or crash the process via a crafted PDF or JBIG2 image. JBIG2Stream::readTextRegionSeg() in JBIG2Stream.cc mishandles attacker-controlled region values, causing arithmetic wraparound during decoding. Exploitation requires opening or processing the malicious file, and the resulting impact is process crash or arbitrary code execution in the decoder's security context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
