CVE-2022-38147Network attack vector

Stored XSS via executable GPX uploads

Published Nov 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 25, 2025

Stored XSS in Silverstripe Assets before 1.11.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through uploaded GPX files. The assets area's extension allowlist accepts GPX files, letting attacker-controlled XML containing JavaScript remain available for direct browser viewing. CMS content-author access and a browser that supports GPX are required, and a legitimate user must be lured to open the file before the script runs in that user's browser.
