Reflected XSS via __proto__ prototype pollution
Published Nov 21, 2022 · Updated Apr 30, 2025
Reflected XSS in Silverstripe CMS 4.11 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script through a crafted URL opened by a CMS user. The CMS UI exposes bundled jQuery 1.7.2 to a proto query-string key; jQuery's deep extend operation copies that key into Object.prototype. Exploitation requires a CMS user to follow the link, after which injected script can read or alter data available in that user's browser session.
