CVE-2022-3813Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Process memory leak via unreleased ESDS atoms

Published Nov 1, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025

Memory leak in Bento4 mp4edit allows remote attackers to consume process memory by inducing a user to process a crafted MP4 file. While parsing nested sample-description structures, AP4_EsdsAtom::Create allocates two 72-byte ESDS atom objects that remain unreleased. Exploitation requires user interaction with attacker-supplied media; the published run demonstrates a 144-byte leak, not a crash or data exposure.
