SYSTEM code execution via BytesToMessage deserialization
Published Feb 15, 2023 · Updated Mar 19, 2025
Deserialization in SolarWinds Platform 2022.4.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands. The BytesToMessage function fails to validate user-supplied data before deserializing it. Orion administrator access to the Web Console is required, and successful exploitation runs code in the SYSTEM context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
