CVE-2022-38025Public exploit

Kernel information disclosure via uncounted alignment padding

Published Oct 11, 2022 · Updated Jan 2, 2025

DFS information disclosure in Microsoft Windows 11 and Server 2022 allows local users to read kernel memory via a crafted FSCTL request. DfscFsctrlCreateDriveLetter omits alignment padding from its Extra EA bounds calculation, causing a read of up to 14 bytes beyond the system buffer. Low-privileged local access is required, and crafted AuthIdentity offsets can relay the disclosed kernel bytes through an SMB connection.
