User-assisted arbitrary code execution
Published Sep 13, 2022 · Updated Mar 11, 2025
Remote code execution in Microsoft AV1 Video Extension before 1.1.51091.0 allows attackers to execute code through crafted AV1 media. Microsoft has not published the vulnerable decoder locus or the incorrect operation performed while processing input. Opening attacker-controlled AV1 content requires user interaction, and successful exploitation runs code in the affected application context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
