Unauthenticated privileged code execution via PAPI overflow
Published Oct 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Buffer overflow in Aruba InstantOS and ArubaOS 10 access points allows remote attackers to execute privileged code via crafted PAPI packets. PAPI handlers in multiple underlying services process crafted UDP port 8211 packet data without enforcing destination-buffer bounds. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation runs arbitrary code as a privileged operating-system user.
