Privileged code execution via PAPI buffer overflow
Published Oct 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Buffer overflow in Aruba Access Points running affected InstantOS or ArubaOS releases allows remote attackers to execute privileged code. Multiple underlying services process crafted PAPI packets sent to UDP port 8211 without adequate bounds checking; Aruba has not identified the exact service or copy operation. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation executes arbitrary code as a privileged operating-system user.
