CVE-2022-3785Public exploit

User-triggered crash via one-byte heap over-read

Published Oct 31, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025

Heap-buffer over-read in Axiomatic Systems Bento4 1.6.0-639 and earlier allows attackers to crash avcinfo via a crafted AVC file. Avcinfo allocates a one-byte data buffer through AP4_DataBuffer::SetDataSize, then its main parsing path reads one byte beyond that allocation. Opening the file with avcinfo is required; the demonstrated result is an AddressSanitizer-detected abort, not proven code execution.
