Router crash or code execution via unchecked strcpy
Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack overflow in Tenda AX1803 1.0.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to crash the router or execute code via a crafted timezone value. The fromSetSysTime function copies the untrusted timeZone value with strcpy into the fixed-size v22 stack array without checking its length. Access to the authenticated /goform/SetSysTimeCfg management endpoint is required; the published proof of concept demonstrates a crash and controlled program execution.
